portland oregon's japanese gardens

Dani was right! The Portland, OR Japanese gardens are indeed beautiful!  We then toured the city center and were underwhelmed.  Many, many, many homeless, little if any city center green space. Little if any outdoor seating at cafe's probably due to the zombie homeless who are in and out and around and very interested in what everyone is doing.  The waterfront was pretty, as one would expect.  We did eat at Kurt Russell's father's restaurant called the Independent.  Huge portions and happy staff.
