After leaving New Mexico, we headed due west toward Flagstaff, AZ following I -40.   We were disheartened to have another drive with unrelenting super winds, steep grades and unforgiving potholes for the entire leg of this journey.  John's fingers were so tightly clenched around the steering wheel that I'm sure the steering wheel itself is cracked.  The height of the RV (13.6 ft) and the length (40 ft) act like a sail on a boat in these strong winds.  You know it's bad when the road commission has advisory signs up! If that wasn't bad enough, the potholes were everywhere and could not be avoided from either lane of traffic. "On average the Flagstaff area experiences more than 200 daily freeze-thaw cycles each year. Adding traffic, including heavy use of I-40 and I-17 by commercial vehicles, causes the stressed pavement to break away. Because of the increase in potholes, local tire and auto shops have had a steady stream of tire, rim and undercarriage repairs."  No kidding!  Today we hope to explore the south rim of the Grand Canyon....on foot...........
