flies! RAH!

We met this swarthy wheelchair fellow the other day near the boat ramp.  His house was right next door as he enjoyed spending as much time as possible watching the comings and goings of his fellow Yoopers launching their canoes, power boats and kayaks each day.  As we approach the boat launch with our kayak, we notice an unbelievable, totally overpowering and overwhelming stench of biblical proportions coming from the steel waste barrel literally six inches from his wheelchair.  The flies surrounding this barrel had to be in the thousands and were as large as we have ever seen. He was completely oblivious to not only the thousands of flies within inches of his head but also the vomit inducing stench that permeated the air for at least 20 feet in any direction.  He was so friendly and wanted to chat forever but I had bile rising in my throat about ready spew at any moment so we cut our conversation short and bailed to the car.  This encounter reminded us of the fly lady when we went to Fajardo, Peurto Rico to learn to sail.  We took a side trip to Culebra island to check out the beautiful white beach.  On the edge of the beach were various local vendors selling things made of shells and coconuts, but also one enterprising lady was selling "FRESH PINA COLADA'S!"  Of course, we had to get some! We walked up to her stand to see it was covered in mosquito netting but blast it all! There were thousands of flies inside the netting and all over the drinks she was pouring! As Ava would have said a few years ago "DISGUSTULATING!"
