Note to travelers heading west: see Mt. Rushmore before you go to Crazy Horse Memorial. Anyhow, despite the frigid temperature, winds and snow, we trekked to the Crazy Horse Memorial and one simply cannot get a sense of the breadth and the scope of it's magnificence without seeing it in person. Did you know, that the whole Mt. Rushmore carving will fit in the lower half of Crazy Horse's face and that the sculptor dedicated his entire life to this project. Furthermore, that his 10 children are completing this sculpture out of a promise made to Chief Henry Standing Bear of the Lakota Indian Tribe?
