Rainy, cold, gray day here in the mitten. We left Coloma on the west side to arrive in a mud bog called Grass Lake. MUD, MUD, and more MUD. About 3 miles to our destination, we see a sign for an upcoming overpass with a clearance of 13'2". That's about 2" margin of error before it takes off the top of our RV and all of our Mir Space Station satellite gear. Cap'n John stops and ponders his options. Turn around or turn around? One can hear the tumblers and tickers going off in his brain and he says "I'll be right back." Then, he returns to the pilot's seat and puts the RV in gear heading straight under the bridge! He pulled a trick maneuver whereby he lowered the entire RV hydraulically! Whoosh! We were an inch or two lower! Inch by inch went under that low ceiling of destruction. We could hear the antennae clinging and clanging against the top of the underpass as we crept through. Only to realize that shortly thereafter, we successfully made it through to the other side. For a few short minutes, we both became religious ha ha! Rain and mud were waiting for us at the Apple Creek Campground applecreekrv.com/ This campground boasts "We're big rig friendly!" and if one can make it to the main office via the long, meandering river of mud leading up to it and then go around the parked car in the driveway without taking out the fence and then having to drive on an angle to the site with low amperage and exposed to more unrelenting rain, then, yeah, I guess they are!
