breaking and entering?

Its' an ice storm here in Michigan. Lovely.  Ice and rain everywhere.  Treacherous and ridiculous.  Being that Marla Truex Jr. has always gone potty while on a long walk, I decided that I could at least walk her around the block and back. So, I harness up the three pups: Gus the Dog, Reed, and Marla. I put on my foul weather gear and brace myself, then out into the elements we go.

Reed, known to avoid extreme weather at all costs, does his business immediately and wants to head back into the house.  Gus and Marla, however, are ready to mush on and play in the ice.  This creates a ridiculous situation for me.  Reed pulling hard to go left while Gus and Marla pulling hard right to go out on an icy adventure.

I decide that it's not too much to just send Reed home and then carry on with Gus and Marla out into the neighborhood.  So, I have my hood pulled down to avoid the ice pellets and keep my head low to ensure that I don't get tangled up in the leashes.  I spin left while being pulled hard right.  I stretch Reed's leash long to get he and I to the front door.  Taking his harness off, throwing the poop bag over on the porch, I open the door and set Reed inside.  Only, to have the horrifying realization that I have just put Reed IN THE WRONG HOUSE!

While Gus and Marla are pulling me to get on with their walk, I look inside the wrong house and see Reed having a blast exploring the new joint.  There was a little girl standing there looking at me from afar and she seemed to be thinking "oh this is so great! That lady just gave me a new dog! Hooray!"  I kept calling Reed but of course, as you know, his come here is broke when we need it to work the most.  "Reed! Come here! " "Reed!"  He was happy as a clam in this new place with his new little girl friend.  I talk to the girl and say "Just grab him by the collar and bring him to the door!"  As I think to myself "I'm going to get arrested for breaking and entering..." "where are this girl's parents? Please don't show up...."

She grabs his collar and leads him to the door but then stops and lets go because Reed starts gagging from his collar being pulled and the little girl thinks he's growling at her.  "Just grab it and pull him again. It's okay!"  Thankfully, she does and I grab Reed and bring him back to the right house while re inserting my left arm back in the socket from Gus and Marla pulling it out.

Oh, and then go back to the little girl's house via baby steps on the sheets of ice, collect the poop bag and carry on with Gus and Marla.
