Oy! The RV developed a flutter or as they call it an "exhaust" leak on our trip.  The danger of not doing anything with  that is that during our 6,000 mile trip to Alaska and back, there is a danger of melting an engine piston and then needing a new engine.

This development caused several problems for us: 1) Who is licensed to deal with this rig in Canada? 2) Can they fit us in? 3) How much of the trip will we miss? 4) Where will we stay while it's being worked on?

John found a dealer who said "first come first serve Monday morning" only. No appointments. Of course, the morning we are set to get there by 7am, the dogs sleep in and John's alarm doesn't go off. We were on full battle station mode at 7:15 to drive 45 minutes to the dealer.

We get to the dealer and find out they will work us in....but.....we have to throw all the food away in the fridge and the freezer, take all the clothes and bedding out of the bedroom, and pack what we need for who knows how many days and do all that in 15 minutes so they can bring the rig in the bay. It might take one day, might take four. No pressure!

It is the Calvary Stampede in Calgary. A million people come into the city and all the hotels are booked. We need a pet friendly room on top of it.  I was able to snag a room after calling and calling many hotels to the tune of $1000 a night. Yep.

The mechanic calls John.  It's going to cost around $5700 to fix the RV but they need it for another two days.  Meaning.....one more hotel to find somewhere. I found one near the aiport this time. Cheap! $500 a night.

If "everything goes right" we should be back on the road late tomorrow afternoon.  It will take about 24 hours for the fridge to cool down. Then we can re stock the fridge and freezer all over again, re make the bed, re stock the closet and on and on.  Off to Jasper BC soon!
